How to Make a Hanging Photo Backdrop

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

At some parties, it just makes sense to have a lot of photos on display.  A first birthday party.  A graduation party.  Or an anniversary like the daisy-themed 40th anniversary party I threw for my parents.  One fun, simple way to incorporate many of those photos is by using them as the backdrop for the food or dessert table.

You'll need:

  • Photos, printed in a number of different sizes (looks more interesting that way)
  • foam core board
  • craft knife
  • ruler
  • hot glue gun
  • trim of some type to match the party theme

First, use the ruler and sharp craft blade to cut the foam core into pieces the same size and shapes of the photo prints.  Mount the photos on the foam core using the hot glue (or spray adhesive, if you'd prefer).

Glue two long strips of trim down the center of each photo in the chain.  Using two lines of trim increases the stability of the  photo garland tremendously.

Flip the photos right-side up and add trim around the perimeter of each photo.

Then, just hang and admire!  So easy, and so special for an event like this, where the memories are an important part of the celebration.
