Make cupcakes for Valentine's day with these chocolate heart valentine cupcake toppers. The chocolate hearts are made out of melting chocolate discs, so they're no-fuss and easy to use to make delicious, beautiful Valentine's Day cupcakes.
I don't know about you, but I always seem to be working on last-minute Valentine's day projects. Unlike Christmas, it's just not a holiday that I think about far in advance.
These chocolate heart cupcake toppers only take a few minutes to make, though, so they're good for procrastinators, like me.
I melted white and red chocolate melts to make white, red, and pink chocolate.
Tip for Melting Chocolate Melting Wafers:
- you can melt chocolate melts in a disposable piping bag instead of a bowl, and then putting the melted chocolate into the piping bag. Just go slowly, checking the chocolate every 15 seconds or so, or you can burn the chocolate and break the piping bag. (I learned that one the hard way using a microwave I wasn't used to.) . When the chocolate is about half melted, massage the chocolate in the bag to mix the chocolate and get rid of any lumps.
Pipe heart shapes of melted chocolate on parchment paper or waxed paper.
Don't worry if they don't look perfect. As you can see, mine certainly didn't, but they still look adorable on the cupcake!
And even if your hearts look lumpy, remember that the back side of your chocolate hearts is going to be flat and smooth! You can always use that side of the chocolate to face the front of a cupcake.
You can let the chocolate heart cupcake toppers cool at room temperature, or pop them in the fridge or freezer for a few minutes if you're really in a hurry. Pop the chocolate hearts on top of a cupcake, and you'll have a Valentine's day treat everyone will love.
Happy Valentine's day!
